Actually you have options. Lots of options. If Independent Study is not your thing then try out one of these places:
- Northwestern's Center for Talent Development offers all kinds of classes from enrichment to AP. If we don't offer it, they might!
- Stanford University's Gifted and Talented program is similar and offers everything from tutoring to Kindergarten math to AP Physics C
- Coursera offers literally hundreds of MOOCs (massive online open classes). Take one in neurobiology from a professor at the University of Chicago (it's terrific! I'm taking it now!) or one from the University of Copenhagen on Søren Kirkegaard –Subjectivity, Irony and the Crisis of Modernity. Did I mention they're free? My favorite price!
- Try the MITOpen Courseware for High School and find yourself with all kinds of handy aids and exam preps.
- Try also Scout through the University of California system. Lots of classes online.
- edX is a consortium of universities (Harvard & MIT amongst others!) offering free learning. Free!!
