A Special Place
to Learn
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) offer something unique for students of color who want an opportunity to study in a different way than they may have done in high school. For many students of color college is a place where they may find themselves lost in a large crowd, where they may need certain support systems, or where they may want to explore parts of their identity they have not had a chance to in high school.
HBCUs are available in many states, at many price points, at many levels of selectivity, and in many sizes. And while you do not have to be a person of color to attend, they offer a lot of programming, scholarships, and supports for students who are first time college students as well.
